Chicken Pot

from Pie by Andy Shea

/

lyrics

Well here's the thing: I'm not afraid to die
because I have lived a free and fruitful life.
I haven't flown but God if I tried I think I might
because I was built for this.

I've seen kind hands and every flower ever sown.
I've eaten seeds of every kind that's ever grown.
Inside my bones I share the DNA of dinosaurs.

I'm wishing the best for you.
I hear you're having troubled times
well I know what that's like
because I've had mine too.

But don't be so blue
because all that you can do
is control how you are you.
And that's the only truth.

Here's the thing: we all were born to die.
If you think otherwise, then you're living a lie.
Embrace the fact and then appreciate each minute more.
(And I know, I know.)

To lose my head will be an awful way to die
and lose my memories of prehistoric times.
They'll take the best of meat
and shape me into dinosaurs.
