If you thought that this lasts forever, I've got news for you because my heart is tied up and tired of thinking for two. If you could change just one thing about me, would you say everything? Because I might say everything, but I don't mean everything that I say. I just mean most of the time or probably part of the time or surely for some of the time I mean what all I say. If you thought that this lasts forever, well now you know the truth.

The Future 03:00
The future is as the future does, and the future is all here because, yeah, all the waves, all the waves surround me. And no one's scared, yeah, no one's scared, and we all thought we were prepared but no one knows it, no one knows it's true. And we're all made of future stars and we're all made of movie stars and we all thought we knew. But now I see that we can bleed. We all paid it once or twice; my insides fill with tiny mice. They run around, they run around and they eat. No one's full, yeah, no one's full, and with these arms I push and pull; I lose my grip and I fall back to my feet. We're all made of future stars and we're all fucked like movie stars and we all thought, and we all thought we grew. So I sit and stay, we can't run away. We won't be home soon. Looking out and in, my brain starts to spin, and so I see the end is true.
3.
I remember dark times, but then you saved me bathed in moonlight. You told me I was alright, and I believed you. I still believe you. Decomposing in the daylight. All my confidence had run dry, and then you're there by my side right when I needed you. And I still need you; I think you need me too. Move slow; don't belabor your own speed. Let go; be the simplest machine. Stop overcomplicating everything. Let's decompose into our molecules, into the happiest we'll ever choose.

about

This all came together by mistake while working on different projects. Ever since hearing David Bazan perform for the first time, I fell in love with "Fewer Moving Parts," an 8-track EP with 4 fully produced songs followed immediately by completely stripped down and earnest 'demos'. It presented the songs as songs, and it is an album I've returned to time and time again for over a decade now.

I started making some demos and experimenting with digital/midi music, and this 6-track album reflects that same goal: to present the songs as songs.

They are the same 3 songs but performed two different ways. First pass presents all electronic/digital, highly produced versions. The second three tracks are simplified and scratchy. I tried to capture the vibe, to some extent, of listening to an old tape cassette in the car.

They are all, more or less, reflections of how I find or misplace happiness.

Thank you for listening. I hope you enjoy.
